Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
Data Loss Prevention (DLP) refers to the systems that detect, monitor and protect confidential information. These systems use multiple techniques to detect confidential and sensitive information, to determine what to look for, and for deep content analysis. The accuracy of identification is important to avoid false positives and negatives. The strength of a system often correlates to its accuracy.
The two most common types of DLP systems are network and host-based.
There are many regulations controlling data security including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and Payment Card Industry (PCI) that make DLP a necessary part of an organizations information security plan. The security controls and processes that are implemented in a DLP plan aid organizations in passing required information technology audits (IT audit).
Data Loss Prevention is also sometimes referred to as Data Leak Prevention (DLP), Information Leak Prevention (ILP), Information Protection and Control (IPC), Information Leak Detection and Prevention (ILDP), and Content Monitoring and Filtering (CMF)

SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE (SaaS)
Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software that is deployed over the internet and/or is deployed to run behind a firewall in your local area network through a distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider. SaaS can be implemented with local applications that expire after a certain time, but it is ideally suited for cloud computing in the Internet and Web browser-based applications, which can run in any desktop or mobile device, no matter the operating system. In this model, the applications are maintained in the service provider's datacenter, and every time users launch their browsers and log on, they get the latest version. In addition, the data can also be stored in the provider's datacenter. SaaS is one of the fastest growing segments of the information technology (IT) industry because it provides a more cost-effective alternative for enterprises to achieve their business objectives than traditional packaged applications.
