Air Tight Networks
Profile
Founded in 2002, AirTight Networks is the leader in wireless perimeter security solutions. AirTight Networks’ SpectraGuard® family of wireless perimeter security products and services provides enterprises and service providers with around-the-clock wireless monitoring and automatic intrusion prevention, while managing wireless LAN network performance for maximum capacity and uptime. The SpectraGuard family of products is the industry’s only solution that correctly classifies wireless devices and events; and automatically identifies, automatically stops, and accurately locates wireless security risks and attacks.
The Market
Wireless perimeter solutions will be adopted by 95+% of enterprises – just as they have already implemented wired perimeter security solutions (firewalls, etc.). Using conservative estimates, this creates a $3+B market opportunity over the next several years.
Technology
AirTight Networks is riding the industry innovation, cost reduction, and growth curves for wireless technologies (802.11, 802.16, BlueTooth, EVDo, etc.) overall. However, along with the incredible productivity gains from wireless technologies, unfortunately we also get many new security threats to the corporate network. Because Wi-Fi signals do not respect the physical perimeter of the enterprise, the corporate air and any device that has wireless capabilities has become an asset that has to be protected.
AirTight Networks founding team had done seminal research into RF propagation and signal dispersion in both vendor and university settings. Based on this research and an anticipation of the security requirements that would be emerging, SpectraGuard was born.
AirTight Networks’ products incorporate industry-leading (patented) technology that encompass several areas, among them:
- Predictive RF planning – both for wireless AP as well as security sensor placement and coverage – to avoid or reduce the need for costly site surveys
- Detection and auto-classification of wireless devices and events – to automatically determine which of them are authorized, and which represent a threat
- Robust intrusion prevention – of multiple, simultaneous wireless threats – as hackers know that multiple threats often can break down a company’s defenses
- Accurate location tracking – so that wireless threats can be dealt with quickly and Efficiently
AirTight Networks has been granted a US Patent No 7,002,943 for its technology, and it has over 20 other patents in process around the world. AirTight Networks licenses this technology to OEM partners – providing customization services and porting assistance to these partners. In addition, AirTight Networks has created the AirTight API – which allows these OEM customers and other technology partners (such as Check Point) to integrate their security or network management or other applications into the AirTight infrastructure.
